The Royal Livingstone Hotel is situated on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls, and stretches along the banks of the Zambezi River, just a short walk to the entrance of The Victoria Falls. Named in honor of the explorer Dr. David Livingstone, its African architectural style and interior design reflects the elegance of days gone by. The air conditioned, spacious en-suite rooms, each with its own private veranda and a view of the Zambezi River, are furnished with large comfortable beds, bathrooms with showers and Victorian style baths. The main hotel building incorporates the lounge, restaurant and bar. Dining options are varied, catering to your palate and mood. Envelop yourself in the beautiful surroundings, laze at the pool or indulge in a spa treatment at the Royal Spa.
Day 1. Arrive Livingstone, Zambia
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred with fellow guests to your reserved hotel. Later in the afternoon you are transferred to the Zambezi River above The Falls for a "sundowner" cruise. Livingstone first wrote about this "Crimson Heart of Africa bleeding over the Kandahar Rapids" and sunset on the Zambezi has captivated travelers since. Board the comfortable boat, as a guest of the upper deck "Captain's Cabin". The cruise makes it way slowly upstream along the length of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park looking for wildlife on the way. A number of animals and a host of bird species can be seen from comfortable chairs. Excellent hot and cold food is served on board and the bar is well stocked with spirits, beers and soft drinks.
