Victoria Falls, Zambia
African Travel's featured destination this quarter is Zambia. The country takes its name from the Zambezi River which stretches from the northwest corner of the country forming its southern boundary. The interior parks of Zambia are often referred to as the 'gems of Africa.' These vast areas are teeming with wildlife and visitors often feel as if they have the whole country to themselves. Zambia pioneered the concept of walking safaris, a 'heart thumping' way to observe larger animals close up and to appreciate the smaller denizens of the bush. And Zambia is the birthplace of African Travel President, Jim Holden!
Additional things to do in Zambia include cultural visits to a village or a 'sundowner' cruise down the Zambezi. River rafting, bungee jumping, and microlight flights are all offered at Victoria Falls, one of Zambia's most impressive sights. Referred to as the "Smoke that Thunders" it is known to be the largest waterfall in the world.
African Travel has over 11 tours featuring Zambia for 2012 including The 16 day Ultimate Safari, the 9-day The Last Refuge, and 12-day African Sensations.

From the moment they arrive, guests feel part of the Savanna 'family.' Nine magnificent suites offer spacious and luxurious accommodation. Did you know...?

Giraffes are around six feet tall at birth and grow rapidly... as much as one inch a day. After weaning, the mother moves the calf to areas with low branches so that it can learn to eat vegetation.
