Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel complements the rich, cultural heritage of Cape Town with a timeless architectural tradition. The hotel is ideally situated between the world-famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and the pulsating city of Cape Town. The spacious rooms have ensuite bathrooms with bath and separate shower. Amenities in each room include tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning, hairdryer, minibar, digital safe, television with DSTV/satellite, complimentary Wi-Fi and each offers views of either Table Mountain or the Waterfront.  Take a dip in the large outdoor pool, relax on the spacious deck, work up a sweat in the fully-equipped fitness center, and savor delicious food and fine wine from the dining facilities. 

2. Kapama River Lodge

Kapama River Lodge is positioned along a bend of the seasonal Kapama River. Decorated to reflect old Africa, the air-conditioned suites feature full, en-suite bathrooms and private patios with uninterrupted views over the Big Five game reserve. Amenities include fans, hairdryers, mini-bar, safe, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access and tea/coffee making facilities. The central lodge area includes an enclosed dining area, where breakfasts and lunches are served and a bar and lounge with two large fireplaces. Evening meals are often enjoyed seated around a crackling fire in the Rhino Boma, where buffet meals showcase the pan-African dishes. The large rim-flow swimming pool is the perfect place to relax on a lazy afternoon. Activities at Kapama include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles and guided bush walks, conducted by experienced rangers. All game viewing drives and walks are shared with fellow camp guests.


Day 1. New York / Johannesburg, South Africa

Depart New York (JFK) on your international South African Airways flight to Johannesburg. Sit back, relax, and prepare for an exhilarating adventure.


Day 2. Johannesburg / Cape Town

Arrive in Johannesburg and take a short domestic flight to your Cape Town destination. After a warm welcome by our African Travel, Inc. representative you will be whisked away to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to begin exploring one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Day 3. Cape Town

The day is yours to fill with fun adventures and sights. Take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain or drink in the picturesque scenery on a Cape Peninsula tour as you drive along the exquisite stretch of coastline. Relish the breathtaking views along legendary Chapman's Peak and take a ride on the Flying Dutchman funicular to the old lighthouse. On your way back towards Cape Town, visit the endearing African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. (B)

Day 4. Cape Town

Enjoy another day at leisure. Blessed with one of the most stunningly beautiful settings of any city in the world, Cape Town and its surrounding areas offer enough activities to keep you occupied for a long time. You can shop for everything from handcrafts such as native masks and pottery to dazzling diamonds; enjoy the culinary delights of some of the world’s top restaurants; and learn about South Africa’s history at world-renowned museums. Day 5. Cape Town

Relish your last leisurely day in Cape Town and complete your "Mother City" bucket list. For wine connoisseurs, a leisurely drive to the Winelands is a treat for the eyes and palette. Perhaps enjoy a wine tasting in the Franschhoek Valley and stop for lunch in the picturesque village, or stroll through historic Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, absorbing the quaintness of this lovely university town. Day 6. Cape Town / Kapama Private Game Reserve

After a delicious breakfast, bid adieu to Cape Town - you’re off to the Kapama Private Game Reserve, this renowned reserve offers an extraordinary safari experience. Meet your game ranger and hop aboard an open vehicle for an afternoon game drive. A kaleidoscope of wildlife is at your fingertips, including the coveted "Big Five."(BLD)

Day 7. Kapama Private Game Reserve

Awaken with the soft light of sunrise when the animals are most lively, and join your ranger for a game drive. Return to your lodge for some leisure time at the pool or relax with a book. In the afternoon set off in search of the regal kudu, or the waterbuck with its distinctive white circle around the tail. (BLD)

Day 8. Kapama Private Game Reserve

Another day of exploration awaits with morning and late afternoon game drives, the latter extending into the twilight in an effort to showcase the fascinating nocturnal creatures and the lions on the hunt. Witness a magnificent African sunset while sipping a sundowner somewhere in the bush before celebrating with a communal dinner back at the lodge. (BLD)

Day 9. Kapama Private Game Reserve / Johannesburg / New York

Venture on one last early morning game drive, a bittersweet farewell. Breakfast is included before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Once you arrive at Oliver Tambo International Airport, connect with your scheduled international South African Airways flight back to the US. We hope to see you again soon! (B)
