3. Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge

Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is located in the Chobe National Park. Perched on the banks of the Savute Channel, the lodge offers spectacular game viewing. All luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering great views, and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an ensuite bathroom with private outdoor showers, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster bed complete with mosquito netting, as well as air conditioning, a ceiling fan and electric heater. For your convenience, in-room safes are provided as well as a hair dryer, facility for charging camera/video batteries, intercom system to reception and 24 hour battery lighting in each tent. The large private decks are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock, ideal for viewing wildlife. The camp offers an elevated swimming pool area overlooking the riverbed where guests have an opportunity to watch the animals while relaxing at the pool. Additional amenities include same day laundry service, a private outdoor leisure area with complimentary internet access and satellite TV located discreetly away from the main lounge and dining areas, curio shop, a high powered telescope for star gazing and a small reference library of books and videos on the flora and fauna of the area. Day 2. Cape Town

Meet your personal driver and guide for the next few days and embark on a day of discovering the ‘Fairest Cape.’ Drive past the sparkling beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Wind your way along legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive to the rocky seascapes of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Continue along the coast to the delightful penguin colony at Boulders Beach. (B)

Day 3. Cape Town

Shop, explore or relax at your own leisure today. Don’t miss a ride on the cable car to the top of iconic Table Mountain for sweeping city and ocean views. Browse the bustling Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and explore the colorful Malay Quarter. (B)

Day 4. Cape Town / Franschhoek

Today’s sojourn celebrates the winelands. Learn all about the process of wine making, from grape to goblet. Revel in the scenery…like the charming Cape Dutch architecture of Stellenbosch and the breathtaking beauty of the Franschhoek valley. (B)

Day 5. Franschhoek

This is the food and wine heartland of the country and there are plenty of wine farms to explore. For a wine tasting with a difference take a ride on the wine tram or go wine tasting on horseback. For the more energetic there are numerous walking trails in the surrounding mountains. (B)

Day 6. Franschhoek / Chobe National Park

You’ll be whisked back to the airport for your morning flight to Maun, Botswana. Meet your bush pilot and enjoy the views as you approach your lodge, perched on the banks of the Savute Channel. After lunch, gear up for an afternoon of game viewing in this diverse and prolific wildlife region, best known for its large elephant population. Abundant plains game such as roan, sable antelope, giraffe, and predators particularly lion, cheetah and hyena can also be seen. (BLD)

Day 7. Chobe National Park

As dawn breaks and the animals begin to stir, set out for your morning game drive, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the bush. As your expert ranger explains, watch for the subtle familiar interaction of a herd of elephants and listen for the distinctive lion's roar as it guards its territory. Whether maneuvering your safari vehicle to help you capture the best photographs or pointing out a rarely seen animal, your ranger's knowledge and expertise are impeccable. (BLD)

Day 8. Chobe National Park

Enjoy another day of game viewing activities in this dynamic wilderness. Learn about the Savute Channel, one of Northern Botswana's greatest mysteries.
