5. Victoria Falls River Lodge

Zimbabwe, Zambezi National Park

Victoria Falls River Lodge is a luxury tented lodge situated on the peaceful banks of the mighty Zambezi River, within the national park. The well-spaced tents boast uninterrupted views of the river and surrounding bush. Constructed of canvas, glass and wood, each tent extends out onto a private deck with its own plunge pool. The air-conditioned tents are tastefully decorated, and include a comfortable seating area, open plan bathroom with freestanding bath, indoor shower, as well as an outdoor shower. Positioned just back from the river’s edge, the main lodge offers a cool sanctuary from the African sun. After a day filled with activities, guests can relax and recharge in the river-side lounge, unwind alongside the pool, or indulge in a spa treatment (additional) at the Toa Spa. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available but may be intermittent due to the lodge’s location.

Depart New York on your international flight on South African Airways to Johannesburg. Arrive in Johannesburg and take a short domestic flight to your Cape Town destination. An African Travel, Inc. representative will escort you to the award-winning 5-star Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa.

Day 3. Cape Town

Enjoy a day at leisure in the fascinating city of Cape Town. The Twelve Apostles Hotel offers a complimentary scheduled shuttle to and from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Day 6. Cape Town / Skukuza / Kruger National Park

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred for your scheduled flight to Skukuza and your lodge in the greater Kruger National Park. This afternoon you will experience your first exhilarating afternoon game drive. (BLD)

Day 7. Kruger National Park

Another day of exploration awaits with a morning game drive in open Land Rovers with the opportunity to view the "Big Five" - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. The Sabie River has the highest recorded density of leopards in Africa, and one of the highest predator densities. It also has the richest biodiversity of any South African river, with many endangered and rare species (mammals, birds, reptiles and plants) being found in the area. (BLD)

Day 8. Kruger National Park

Enjoy another day with game drives as well as bush walks in this wildlife paradise. You are accompanied by highly skilled game rangers, who provide interesting information and anecdotes about the inhabitants of the bush. In the late afternoon you will be taken on another safari where you will have the opportunity to see the gorgeous sunset and the nocturnal animals.(BLD)

Day 9. Kruger National Park / Skukuza / Johannesburg

Depart on an early morning game drive to track the animals that may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast. After a transfer to Skukuza you will fly to Johannesburg. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel where you will spend the night. (B)

Day 10. Johannesburg / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

You will be transferred to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls. Transfer to your lodge nestled among the trees in the Zambezi National Park. In the afternoon enjoy a tranquil sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The park offers outstanding natural, scenic beauty with a wide diversity of game and bird life. Sit back and be lulled by the ebb and flow of the great river as you drift quietly pass elephants, hippos and crocodiles. (BLD)

Day 11. Victoria Falls

Take to the river on an early morning sunrise cruise. Watch as the sun’s first rays dance across the shimmering surface of the mighty Zambezi. After breakfast enjoy a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls, one of seven natural wonders of the world. This tour takes you through the magnificent rain forest where you are able to view the Cataracts, Livingstone's statue and a wide variety of birds and plants. This afternoon, go on a sunset river cruise and join in on Mother Nature’s Happiest Hour. Sip a sun-downer while watching her creatures big and small coming to the water’s edge to lap at its liquid life under the molten skies. (BLD)
