5. Victoria Falls River Lodge

Zimbabwe, Zambezi National Park

Victoria Falls River Lodge is a luxury tented lodge situated on the peaceful banks of the mighty Zambezi River, within the national park. The well-spaced tents boast uninterrupted views of the river and surrounding bush. Constructed of canvas, glass and wood, each tent extends out onto a private deck with its own plunge pool. The air-conditioned tents are tastefully decorated, and include a comfortable seating area, open plan bathroom with freestanding bath, indoor shower, as well as an outdoor shower. Positioned just back from the river’s edge, the main lodge offers a cool sanctuary from the African sun. After a day filled with activities, guests can relax and recharge in the river-side lounge, unwind alongside the pool, or indulge in a spa treatment (additional) at the Toa Spa. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available but may be intermittent due to the lodge’s location.

Day 1. Arrive Cape Town, South Africa

When you arrive in Cape Town, you’ll be met by an African Travel, Inc. representative and whisked away to your hotel. Spend the rest of your day unwinding.

Day 2. Cape Town

Your day begins with a cable car ride up to the summit of the legendary Table Mountain. Continue your day exploring the stunning Cape Peninsula. Wind your way along legendary Chapman’s Peak. Drive to the rocky seascapes of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Continue along the coast to the delightful penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Meaningful Moment: – This evening, meet Christo Brand, former prison guard of Robben Island and personal friend of Nelson Mandela. He’ll share the story of his life, upbringing and how he came to be a prison guard in Robben Island in 1978, where he first met Mandela. (B, D)

Day 3. Cape Town

Today’s sojourn explores the nearby winelands. Learn all about the process of wine-making, from grape to goblet. Revel in the scenery — like the breathtaking views of the Paarl valley and the picturesque little village of Franschhoek, the gourmet capital of the Cape. Take a stroll through historic Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, absorbing the quaintness of this lovely university town.

Meaningful Moment: – A trip to the winelands isn’t complete without a wine tasting, so a cellar tour and two tastings have been organized at different wine estates. (B)

Day 4. Cape Town

Spend your day at leisure exploring world-class museums, markets and beaches. Later this evening, feel the heartbeat of Africa, as you embark on a taste safari from Cape Town to Zanzibar at GOLD Restaurant. (B)

Meaningful Moment: – Enjoy a magical evening that starts with an interactive Djembe drumming session. Enjoy a soothing hand washing ceremony, followed by dinner, consisting of Cape Malay and African cuisine. Be captivated by the drummers, singers and graceful Mali Puppets as they dance around your table. (B, D)

Day 5. Cape Town / Mpumalanga / Sabi Sands Game Reserve

With a short flight, you’ll be on your way to your safari adventure within a private reserve bordering the famous Kruger National Park. Settle in and soak up the tranquility of the African bush before embarking on your late afternoon game drive. (B,L,D)

Day 6. Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Just as the wildlife awakens, meet your expert safari ranger and hop aboard your open safari vehicle for a thrilling game drive. Day 8. Sabi Sands Game Reserve / Mpumalanga / Johannesburg

Set out early on your final safari in search of those hard-to-spot cheetahs and the Big Five. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast and relax until it’s time to transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, you are transferred to your ideally located hotel.
