Accommodations
1. The Silo
South Africa, Cape Town
The Silo Hotel is a magical hotel towering above the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex, the hotel occupies the six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The hotel is a celebration of art, style, architecture and design. All the rooms are individually designed and decorated with colorful, eclectic pieces juxtaposing the modern, industrial architecture. Pillowed window bays are one of the key architectural features. Due to the unique architecture of the hotel, the rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally. The Willaston Bar with stunning views over the city is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine, while The Granary Café offers a more formal dining experience. The Silo Rooftop is the ideal spot for a sunset cocktail or a casual lunch. Guests can enjoy signature treatments at the spa, take afternoon tea overlooking Table Mountain, swim in the rooftop pool or enjoy a guided tour of the museum.
2. Saseka Tented Camp
South Africa, Thornybush Private Nature Reserve
Saseka meaning beautiful in Tsonga, is elegantly positioned on the banks of a dry-riverbed in the game rich Thornybush Nature Reserve. The use of light is a key factor, and the lodge blends a wonderfully spacious, modern look with natural materials and textures. Tented suites have floor to ceiling glass sliding doors that open onto a private deck and pool. Amenities include air conditioning, telephone, mini bar, safe, separate bath and shower, outside shower, hair dryer, mosquito nets, fan and complimentary Wi-Fi. The main lodge area is a celebration of nature and offers both an upper and lower-deck, with views onto the riverbed. The extraordinary ceiling filters light into the space – imitating the natural dappled light of a tree canopy.
