1. Queen Victoria Hotel

South Africa, Cape Town

Set in a heritage quarter within the V&A Waterfront, the Queen Victoria Hotel gives you a sense of being within the Waterfront’s vicinity but removed from the frenetic pace of it. Luxury and sophistication emanates throughout the hotel. The attention to detail is something to behold, from customized wallpaper designed with a cameo portrait of Queen Victoria, to the hotel’s very own designer fragrance. This same glamourous sophistication is carried through to each of the individually designed bedrooms, which feature high-tech amenities. Dash, restaurant offers patrons an elegant yet relaxed dining experience. Guest can also dine at Ginja Restaurant at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, which incorporates a blend of artisanal and wholesome dining options. 2. Bayethe Tented Lodge

Pronounced “By-ye-ti” this African greeting, means “I salute you”, and is the warmest welcome in this part of South Africa. Bayethe is a tented paradise offering guests a complete immersion in the tranquility of the African bush. Surrounded by spectacular views, the luxury tents offer all the comforts of home. The air conditioned tents have a private deck with a plunge pool, tea and coffee making facilities, en-suite bathroom with a tub and either an indoor shower or an outdoor shower, hairdryer, electronic safe, fitted international adaptors, international dial telephone, and minibar. All of the tents have fireplaces. Facilities at the lodge include a gift boutique, central lounge, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, outdoor deck with swimming pool, Wi-Fi and spa.

3. Summerfields Rose Retreat & Spa

Summerfields Rose Retreat & Spa is hidden away on a macadamia and litchi farm, on the banks of the Sabie River. The luxury tented rooms are air conditioned and feature en-suite bathrooms with double vanities, bath and an outdoor shower. Amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer, electronic safe and ceiling fan. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms, but may be sporadic due to the farm’s location. The bistro style River Café, set on the banks of the river, serves breakfast and lunch daily, while the Summerfields Kitchen is open from Tuesday to Saturday for dinner. The unique Rose Spa is the ultimate destination for relaxation and tranquility. Surrounded by forests, the spa facilities include a steam room, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, Vichy shower, and a hydro walk along the banks of the Sabie River.

4. Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

For decades Bush Lodge has been Sabi Sabi's flagship lodge, famed for its warmth, vibrancy and legendary hospitality. Each of the spacious, air-conditioned thatched suites features en-suite bathrooms with al-fresco glass-fronted indoor showers, affording wonderful views of the bush. Day 2. Cape Town

Begin the day with spectacular vistas of the city on a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain. Sense the depth of history as you drive past The Castle, City Hall and the old Slave Lodge. Stroll through the cobblestoned Malay Quarter and browse Greenmarket Square. (B)

Day 3. Cape Town

Spend today discovering the rugged Cape Peninsula, passing beautiful beaches along the way. Look out for wildlife in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and view the engaging penguin colony at Boulders Beach. (B)

Day 4. Cape Town / Shamwari Game Reserve

Continue to your first safari lodge in a secluded wildlife haven in the Eastern Cape. Unpack your camera and venture into the bush for your first open vehicle game drive. Situated within 25000 hectares of pristine wilderness, the Shamwari Game Reserve is a true escape. (BLD)

Day 5. Shamwari Game Reserve

Twice-daily game drives provide plenty of opportunities to see the Big Five and a plethora of intriguing creatures.
