Set in a heritage quarter within the V&A Waterfront, the Queen Victoria Hotel gives you a sense of being within the Waterfront’s vicinity but removed from the frenetic pace of it. 2. Savanna Private Game Reserve

Savanna is situated in the famous Sabi Sand Reserve in an area where 'Big 5' sightings are so frequent, it is not unusual to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino in a single game drive. The beautifully appointed suites offer spacious and luxurious accommodation, blending the elegance of a bygone era with all the convenience of modern facilities. Each suite has an en-suite bathroom with free-standing bath, double vanities, indoor and outdoor shower and open onto a deck with a private plunge pool. In between game drives, relax in the comfortable public lounge with its spacious patio or at the main pool overlooking the lush gardens and waterhole. A viewing loft above the lounge makes a pleasant nook for a quiet game of chess as well as a bird's eye view of the waterhole, while an adjoining library provides complimentary Wi-Fi. Breakfasts, lunches and candle-lit dinners are served on the deck of the main lodge. On balmy nights, sumptuous barbecues are enjoyed under the stars round a blazing fire in the open-air ‘boma.’ Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles and guided bush walks, conducted by experienced rangers.
3. The River Club

The River Club is a boutique owner-run lodge set on a bend of the magnificent Zambezi River and is the perfect location for a visit to the renowned Victoria Falls. From their elevated positions, the spacious suites are perfectly situated to gaze across the river to the Zambezi National Park on the opposite bank. Renowned for their spectacular views and romantic ambience, each room looks west into the glorious African sunset, best viewed from the privacy of the ball-and-claw bath. Steeped in history, the restored 1940s main building, known as the Zambezi House, has a comfortable lounge with fireplace and a well stocked library. While most meals are served outside on the terrace or by the poolside, the large dining room can seat all guests in one sitting at the impressively long teak dining table. The River Club is a place to relax. There are no early wake-up calls and guests are encouraged to lie in and soak up their surroundings. Set on 50 acres of privately owned land, The River Club offers ample space for couples seeking privacy, or families looking to explore the area and participate in the host of activities on offer.

Set in an ancient riverine forest in the heart of Botswana's magical Okavango Delta, Seba Camp offers secluded, luxury tents overlooking a lagoon and seasonal floodplain teeming with animal and bird life. The well-appointed, spacious tents are elevated from the ground and are decorated individually, celebrating the different tribes of Botswana in vibrant décor. The tents have en-suite bathrooms and private decks with magnificent vistas of the lagoon. Each unit has an electronic safe, ceiling fan, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries. The dining area, lounge-library and pool are all set on raised decks with spectacular views. Seba Camp offers both land and water based game viewing activities. Spend your day exploring the stunning Cape Peninsula. Drive past the sparkling beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Wind your way along legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive to the rocky seascapes of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Continue along the coast to the delightful penguin colony at Boulders Beach. (B)

Today’s sojourn explores the nearby winelands. Learn all about the process of wine making, from grape to goblet. Revel in the scenery…like the picturesque little village of Franschhoek, first settled by the Huguenots. Take a stroll through historical, charming Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, absorbing the quaintness of this lovely university town. (B)

Take flight for a thrilling safari to a private game reserve in the heart of Big Five country near Kruger National Park. After you settle in to your lodge, meet your expert ranger for your first game drive and begin tracking and learning about the distinct behaviors of the Big Five as well as the wealth of wildlife that awaits. There is no set pattern to your days. Guests are encouraged to lie in and soak up their surroundings. Walk the misty rain forest trails along the falls, go fishing, or visit a local village and meet the friendly Zambian people. Day 11. Okavango Delta
As dawn breaks and the animals begin to stir, gather your camera and join your ranger to begin exploring the annually flooded grasslands surrounding your camp, and beyond into the drier plains. Listen for the trumpeting of a large herd of elephants passing through or the lion’s roar as it guards its pride. After the day cools down, venture out again to look for endangered wild dogs lazing with their pack, and leopards, cheetah and African wildcat prowling the shadows. (BLD)

Venture by motorboat or canoe and explore the Delta's secret channels and hidden lagoons. Bring your binoculars to zoom in on the exceptional bird life from the Pel’s fishing owl, to chirping cisticola. Relax until your evening safari when your ranger will spotlight the nocturnal animals. After dinner, gather ‘round the campfire to share your favorite adventures with your safari companions. (BLD)
