MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® EXPERIENCES
This year we are celebrating 45-years of why we love Africa through our sustainable safaris experiences. Tourism is the lifeblood of Africa and now more than ever tourism dollars make an incredible difference.
We are here to guide you to the best ethically responsible and engaging experiences for each family. This includes curating trips with MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experiences that meets one of the UN Sustainable Development Global Goals. Here are just a few of our diverse opportunities to engage with Africa's people and wildlife.
Jabulani Elephant Experience
South Africa’s only elephant orphanage sanctuary, Jabulani at Kapama Private Game Reserve offers many one-of-a kind-experiences. Between game drives seeing the other wildlife on the reserve, you can meet Jabulani's resident herd of African elephants and spend time learning about their behavior and incredible stories.
Start the day with Elephant Moments, where Jabulani’s enthusiastic elephant caretakers share the daily lives of the elephants. The watch the herd splash playfully during their midday swim, and in the evening, join them for their last sunset walk during an intimate sundowner.
For every family one one of our safaris, we will foster an elephant in your name. Children 12+ can join a ranger and elephant carer on foot and journey through the reserve tracking the elephants and learning about each elephant's stories and personalities.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Walk Through
Go behind the scenes and get a firsthand look at conservation projects and meet the passionate wildlife caregivers at Shamwari.
Between exciting game drives at the malaria-free Eastern Game Shamwari Private Reserve, guests can join caregivers at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The centre helps to rehabilitate and care for sick, injured, abandoned or orphaned animals under the care of our professional veterinary team. Once these animals have been nursed back to health, they are released back into their natural habitat.
Families with older kids can also visit the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary.

The local Samburu and Maasai tribes are full partners so your visit not only conserves the environment but also pays for the education and welfare of the people who call this remote and magnificent region home. The conservancy has its own dedicated anti-poaching team and you can go behind the scenes to learn more about protecting this 57,000 acre wildlife haven. A highlight is meeting their dog sniffing team. The team is comprised of Memusi and Nanyokie and their human handler and guests participate in a tracking demonstration to see them in action.
