1. Kalahari Plains Camp

Kalahari Plains Camp is situated in a remote part of the diverse and productive Central Kalahari Game Reserve and offers some of the best summer wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. The camp overlooks an immense pan with endless horizons and beautiful skies. It comprises en-suite canvas units with a sleep-out above each, from which to enjoy moonlit or star-studded nights. The tents are well appointed and stylish with his and her basins, en-suite bathroom with a shower, inviting beds, writing desk and a deck area with seating, the perfect spot for peaceful contemplation in between activities. All tents have large window openings with mesh and roll down covers. The main area consists of a lounge and dining area with an inviting swimming pool and deck area. The camp is raised off the ground to catch the breeze and take in the sweeping, spacious views across the Kalahari. The camp is fully solar powered with insulated roofs and canvas walls keeping the temperatures inside the units comfortable.


Day 1. Arrive Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Meet your bush pilot and board the aircraft for a flight to your safari camp in the Central Kalahari. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is home to the legendary Kalahari black-maned lion as well as some of the world's best cheetah viewing. Healthy wildlife populations are present year round and vary with the seasons. Some of the more unique residents include the brown hyena, black-backed jackal, Cape fox and honey badger. 220 bird species have been recorded to date. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of the Okavango Delta and Botswana's big picture.(LD)

Day 2. Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Guided game drives unlock the fascinating wildlife treasures found in this wonderful arid region. Various Bushmen clans have thrived in this area for centuries, and many of Kalahari Plains Camp's staff hail from this ancient people. Gain insight into the unique culture of this fascinating people on an interpretive "Bushman Walk" led by camp staff members. (BLD)

Day 3. Central Kalahari Game Reserve

The Kalahari is famous for its clear night skies. After today's safari adventure, let your guide take you on a tour through the constellations or sleep out on your roof under the starry skies and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of Africa. (BLD)

Day 4. Central Kalahari Game Reserve / Departure

Enjoy a morning game viewing activity then return to camp for breakfast. Afterwards, bid farewell to your new found friends as you depart on your air transfer to Maun. (B)
