2. Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Sweetwaters Serena Camp is a sheltered oasis, set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The canvas interiors and solid wood floors create the charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury. All of the tents have private verandas overlooking the water hole and each has an ensuite bathroom, with hot shower and flush loo. All the tents are equipped with bathrobe, slippers, tea and coffee making facilities. Electricity is provided by a 24 hour generator. Hairdryers and safe are available at the reception desk. The camp is clustered around a water hole and the main areas are designed to take full advantage of the views. The central dining room and bar features floor to ceiling windows and a blazing log fire. The dining room serves both regional and international cuisine. The Water Hole Bar is located in a traditional ‘hide' which overlooks the water and offers unique opportunities for wildlife viewing.

 

3. Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club

Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club offers a snapshot of Africa from a bygone era. Originally the retreat of movie star and club founder, William Holden, illustrious former members have included Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby. Under the watchful eye of the mountain, guests can stroll throughout the hotel’s tranquil grounds and relax in refined elegance. The guest rooms, suites and cottages are imbued with tradition and charm, and equipped with modern-day amenities. Seasonally inspired menus are designed to satisfy any craving and can be enjoyed on the terrace or in the club’s signature restaurant. The Zebar bar is a great spot to unwind after a day of adventure, while the pool bar is perfect for a tranquil rendezvous. 4. Elephant Bedroom Camp

Elephant Bedroom Camp is an intimate tented camp set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Samburu National Reserve. Surrounded by palms and beautiful indigenous trees, the camp offers simplistic elegance inspired by the textures and colors of African nature. Each of the comfortably appointed tents features en-suite bathrooms and private decks with plunge pools. The cozy lounge and dining area is the ultimate place to relax in between exciting game drives. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the lounge and surrounding areas. Dining is a culinary experience with al-fresco breakfasts and lunches, served on the banks of the river, or under shady trees, while candle-lit dinners are enjoyed in the cozy dining area. Accommodation includes all meals. 5. Fairmont Mara Safari Club

Fairmont Mara Safari Club is the perfect base for a safari adventure in the renowned Maasai Mara. The luxuriously furnished tents reflect the rich local Maasai heritage. Each has a four-poster bed, and en suite facilities with modern day amenities including cold running water, and solar heated water. A private viewing decks overlooking the hippo filled Mara River completes the sublime experience. The main lodge houses the retail shop, library, lounge, and dining room. The lounge forms the heart of the lodge, with decor reminiscent of the hunting lodges of yesteryear – comfy leather furniture, carved side tables and artifacts from the region. In the evening, the warm furnishings are complimented by the gentle glow of the fireplace. The perfect setting for an evening cocktail after a day’s game viewing. A spacious deck overhangs the river and leads to the swimming pool, complete with bar and private massage tents.

Day 2. Nairobi

Today's tour of Nairobi takes in all the highlights, visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its pioneering orphan's project. Meet the little ones as they return from foraging in the bush, ready for their milk feed. Continue to the Karen Blixen Museum, once owned by Danish Author Karen Blixen. The Oscar winning film ‘Out of Africa’, is based on Karen’s life. (BLD)

Day 3. Nairobi / Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Begin your journey to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of East Africa's largest private rhino sanctuaries. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy sweeping views of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. Meet your ranger for an afternoon game drive into the reserve and be ready to photograph the wealth of wildlife. Later this evening discover Ol Pejeta Conservancy ‘after dark’ on a once in a lifetime night game drive. With the help of a filtered spot light, keep your eyes peeled for nocturnal animals, like the aardvark, white-tailed mongoose and the elusive leopard. (BLD)

Day 4. Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Tread lightly and make your travels matter. Meaningful Moment: – Start the morning by tracking and gathering vital research information on the lions of Ol Pejeta. It is a wonderful way to learn about lions. All the information gathered is passed on to the Ol Pejeta Ecological Monitoring Department. Ol Pejeta is a refuge to several endangered species, including Kenya's only chimpanzee sanctuary, established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market. Top off the day with a tree planting exercise. Can you think of a better way to leave your footprints in Africa? (BLD)

Day 5. Ol Pejeta Conservancy / Mount Kenya

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, drive north into the foothills of Mount Kenya. Stop at the Nanyuki Weavers and Spinners, a women’s self-help project established in 1977. Continue to the world-famous Mount Kenya Safari Club, arriving in time for lunch. The balance of the day is at leisure to enjoy your luxurious surroundings. (BLD)

Day 6. Mount Kenya / Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, continue to the Samburu National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Later this afternoon set out on a game drive in search of the rare wildlife only found north of the equator, such as the reticulated giraffe Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk and Somali ostrich. Cap off your day with a traditional sundowner as you marvel at views of the beautiful Samburu bush. (BLD)

Day 7. Samburu National Reserve

Spend the day game viewing in Samburu with both morning and afternoon game drives. Visit a local Samburu village for a chance to interact with Samburu people and get a glimpse into their culture, unique way of life and learn first hand some of their traditional customs and practices. (BLD)

Day 8. Samburu National Reserve / Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, transfer to the local airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Discover the Kenya of your dreams, a vast, gently rolling landscape of acacia-specked grasslands. Lunch will be served on arrival, followed by an afternoon game drive. Meaningful Moment: – Tonight enjoy a hearty barbeque bush dinner under the star-studded African sky. (BLD)

Day 9. Maasai Mara National Reserve

Dine in the wild, and enjoy a bush breakfast before your morning game drive. The Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves and animal viewing is spectacular year-round. You may see a pride of lions stalking their prey, observe a herd of elephant and their fascinating social structure, or see pods of hippos wallowing in the rivers. Optional activity (at an additional cost) - Enjoy the thrill of an early morning hot air balloon ride over the rolling plains of the reserve. (BLD)

Day 10. Maasai Mara National Reserve / Depart

Say farewell to the bush and return by air to Nairobi. Lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant, a shopping excursion and day room round out the day before returning the airport for your onward arrangements. (BL)
