Accommodations

1. The Silo

South Africa, Cape Town

The Silo Hotel is a magical hotel towering above the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex, the hotel occupies the six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The hotel is a celebration of art, style, architecture and design. All the rooms are individually designed and decorated with colorful, eclectic pieces juxtaposing the modern, industrial architecture. Pillowed window bays are one of the key architectural features. Due to the unique architecture of the hotel, the rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally. The Willaston Bar with stunning views over the city is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine, while The Granary Café offers a more formal dining experience. The Silo Rooftop is the ideal spot for a sunset cocktail or a casual lunch. Guests can enjoy signature treatments at the spa, take afternoon tea overlooking Table Mountain, swim in the rooftop pool or enjoy a guided tour of the museum.

2. Waterside Lodge at Royal Malewane

Thornybush Private Game Reserve, South Africa

This exclusive private villa at Waterside is spacious and elegant with vibrantly natural furnishings. Light floods into the four en-suite bedrooms, each of which enjoys a private deck. Antique furniture, plush silk furnishings and Persian rugs create an exotic and luxurious feel. The instantly recognisable flair of a Liz Biden design fuses this safari sanctuary with the Royal Malewane exemplar, while its secluded location allows for an exclusive, perfect stay. Waterside House presents an immersive setting that will engage your senses, rest your mind and reawaken your soul. It is perfect for groups of friends or families who value memorable experiences, personalised service and unrivalled game viewing.

3. Thorntree River Lodge

Zambia, Livingstone

Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. Featuring an environmentally conscious, modern design, the lodge draws inspiration from local cultures. Each tented suite includes an indoor and outdoor bathroom and private plunge pool. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area and cellar stocked with the finest wines. A gym and spa overlook the mighty Zambezi River, and there is a small library with Wi-Fi to check in with the world. The communal deck set along the river is home to a sunken boma and infinity pool. Additional wooden decking floats on the edge of the river and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing. Activities include visits to Victoria Falls, rhino trekking on foot and game drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, cultural village visits, sunset river cruises (on the lodge’s own private boat), fishing, and visits to the Livingstone Museum.
