Accommodations
1. The Silo
South Africa, Cape Town
The Silo Hotel is a magical hotel towering above the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex, the hotel occupies the six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The hotel is a celebration of art, style, architecture and design. All the rooms are individually designed and decorated with colorful, eclectic pieces juxtaposing the modern, industrial architecture. Pillowed window bays are one of the key architectural features. Due to the unique architecture of the hotel, the rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally. The Willaston Bar with stunning views over the city is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine, while The Granary Café offers a more formal dining experience. The Silo Rooftop is the ideal spot for a sunset cocktail or a casual lunch. Guests can enjoy signature treatments at the spa, take afternoon tea overlooking Table Mountain, swim in the rooftop pool or enjoy a guided tour of the museum.
2. Dulini
South Africa, Kruger Private Reserve
Dulini is a tranquil haven on the banks of the Mabrak River in the Sabi Sand Reserve. Shaded by ancient Ebony and Leadwood trees, the camp’s peaceful atmosphere is enhanced by the symphony of bird song. An endless passage of wildlife adds to the allure. Complete with private plunge pools, six exquisite thatched suites grace the banks of the riverbed. Spacious interiors epitomize romance, with canopies of mosquito nets and beautiful bathrooms. The main lodge, resplendent with deep couches spills onto a cool veranda, with views to the wilderness beyond. Retreat to the extensive library for quiet contemplation or observe the movement of wildlife through the trails around the camp from the cantilevered deck. It is not uncommon to secretly witness an elusive leopard from this vantage point. The welcoming ambience of laid back luxury creates a place of conversation and laughter.
3. The Saxon
South Africa, Johannesburg
The enchanting Saxon Hotel is the perfect blend of rich cultural history and contemporary five-star service. As a guest of the Saxon you may choose to stay in one of the luxuriously elegant suites in the main hotel, or you may prefer the sense of quiet retreat of the more private villa suites. The tranquil suites feature a king size bed, separate bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. The open plan layout includes a lounge and dining area with business desk and iPod docking station. In room amenities include complimentary full mini bar and snacks, high speed Wi-Fi, in suite entertainment, a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and 24 hour butler service. While at The Saxon, join the chefs on an experiential, culinary adventure at one of the hotel’s many restaurants. A fitness center offers state-of-the-art equipment and is available 24 hours, while the spa is an oasis of calm, complete with hydro facilities, water features, outdoor stones and gardens.
4. Victoria Falls Island Lodge
Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls
Upstream from the iconic Victoria Falls, the exclusive Victoria Falls Island Lodge offers secluded luxury. Nestled on the banks of Kandahar Island, and surrounded by the flowing waters of the mighty Zambezi, the lodge is only accessible by boat. The luxuriously appointed Treehouse suites with private plunge pools are set on raised decks. Constructed predominantly of wood and glass, the suites, are designed to take in the panoramic vistas and ever changing hues of the African sky. The central lodge features an open plan lounge and dining area and connects to the suites by elevated walkways. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. Personal butler services, incredible wildlife viewing, fine dining, an array of recreation opportunities (both onsite and in nearby historic town of Victoria Falls) and revitalizing Spa massage treatments (additional cost), promises an unforgettable serene experience.
