1. Arusha Coffee Lodge

Arusha Coffee Lodge is hidden among one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations and beautifully positioned below the rugged peak of Mount Meru. The theme of coffee is never far away at Arusha Coffee Lodge as evidenced by the beautifully designed plantation suites and rooms, all adorned with comfortable furnishings.  Each room features an ensuite bathroom including a triple-headed shower, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, electronic safe, mini-bar, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities. The homey feel of the lodge is by no means accidental as the origins of the homestead continue to emit glimpses of times-gone-by.  The main Plantation House is home to an à la carte restaurant, an intimate bar and a cozy lounge, all of which have inviting open log fires.  There are two boutiques, an enclosed swimming pool and a popular garden terrace.  The common areas also offer complimentary Wi-Fi. 

2. Tarangire Treetops

Tarangire Treetops is set in a private game reserve bordering Tarangire National Park. The luxury elevated suites are perched on platforms in the branches of age old Baobab and Marula trees. Each suite has a large bedroom with exotic double shower en-suite bathroom. The ‘up-in-the-air’ experience is completed by the open-fronted room design affording views across the Tarangire plains from an expansive but private balcony. The main lodge is centered around a thousand year Baobab tree and encompasses the reception, dining room, and lounge overlooking the swimming pool and waterhole that sees a constant flow of wild animal visitors. 3. Singita Faru Faru

5. Kigali Serena Hotel

6. Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge lies in the natural amphitheater of an eroded volcanic cone. The word bisate means ‘pieces’ in Kinyarwanda, describing how the cone was once whole but worn away by natural erosion. The area has dramatic views of the volcano peaks of Bisoke and Karisimbi, rearing up through the Afro-alpine forests. The lodge’s spherical thatched structures echo the thousands of hills that dot the Rwandan, landscape, while the richly detailed interior exhibits surfaces and screens made from a variety of woven materials with strong resonance in Rwandan culture. Each of the six forest villas consists of a generous, yet intimate combination of bedroom, reception space and bathroom, featuring an indoor shower, bathtub and double vanity with separate toilet. All warmed by a central fireplace with breath taking views out across a private deck. Complimentary wireless internet connection is available in the villas only. Day 2. Arusha / Tanzania National Park

Depart on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, noted for its signature baobab trees and large elephant herds. Enjoy a game drive en route to Tarangire Safari Lodge, where you will stop for lunch. Continue to the five-star Tarangire Treetops, where spacious elevated rooms are built atop tree-attached platforms with magnificent views across the plains. (BLD)

Day 3. Tanzania National Park

A full-day game drive with picnic lunch is scheduled for today. Look out for elephant and lion as well as zebra, giraffe and waterbuck. The park is also a haven for bird enthusiasts. (BLD

Day 4. Tarangire National Park / Singita Grumeti

Day 10. Kigali / Parc National des Volcans

This morning, take a poignant and moving tour of the Kigali Memorial Centre. Explore the city’s wonderful collection of art galleries and cooperative centers with a local artist. After lunch, depart on a scenic drive to the base of the Sabinyo Mountains, where dramatic views of the peaks rear up through the forests. Guests are invited to meet the local community and participate in conservation efforts during their stay. (BLD)

Day 11. Parc National des Volcans

A physically demanding hike rewards you with the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery. Once the gorillas are located, all fatigue is forgotten. Observe the troop as they go about their day. Females bond by grooming, juveniles play and explore, all under the watchful eye and guidance of the dominant silverback. (BLD)

Day 12. Parc National des Volcans / Kigali

Enjoy a second gorilla trek today for another memorable visit with this magnificent critically endangered primate. Less than 1000 mountain gorillas are thought to live in the wild today. Bid farewell to the forest and return to Kigali this afternoon. (B)
