Accommodations

1. Hemingways Nairobi

Hemingways Nairobi is a small luxury plantation-style hotel in the peaceful suburb of Karen. The beautifully furnished rooms pay homage to the classic elegance of vintage East African safaris. The spacious en-suite bedrooms feature bathrooms of hand-cut Italian marble, vaulted ceilings and balconies overlooking the Ngong Hills. An attentive butler is on hand to complete the luxurious experience. Meals are a delightful affair, with fresh baked breads and pastries from the hotel’s own patisserie. The Brasserie serves the best steaks in Kenya, grilled on an imported charcoal oven. Menus are contemporary in style. Additional amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a bar, a wine cellar and a Spa.

2. Elewana Tortilis Camp

Kenya, Amboseli National Park

Elewana Tortilis Camp is named after the local Acacia Tortilis tree, and is situated just outside the Park in an area of unspoiled woodland. The thatch covered tents are large and spacious, and feature king or twin beds, elegant en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. With Mt. Kilimanjaro peering down over the entire camp, each of the tents have glorious views of the mountain. The camp prides itself in serving up fresh homegrown salads and vegetables from its healthy vegetable garden. From impressive bush breakfasts out in the middle of the plains, to homemade pasta and bread at the camp, the Tortilis chefs excel with every meal. The camp guides are based in camp and know their backyard intimately. More than half of the guides are Maasai, and together, have combined guiding experience of 80 years. In between safari activities, enjoy the swimming pool, or indulge in a massage, manicure or pedicure.

 

3. Elewana Lewa Safari Camp

Sprawling over the Laikipia plains, this unique and exclusive retreat offers privileged access to 65,000 acres of private protected wilderness. Featuring large tented bedrooms with spacious verandas and full en-suite bathrooms, the camp offers authentic comfort. The central areas have exquisite gardens with a large sunny veranda and a swimming pool to enjoy during the day. At night, cozy log fires in the lounge and dining room are perfect for chilly evenings. Meals are prepared by a team of skilled cooks, using the freshest ingredients sourced from the mountain highlands. Lewa offers a host of activities for observing animals in their natural habitat. Explore the Conservancy in open vehicle game drives.Leave the car behind and enjoy the small things – tracks, dung beetles, micro-ecosystems on a guided bush walk. Another walking option is to visit Ngare Ndare forest conservancy which is a full day out from camp with a picnic. Evening horse rides allow you to get very close to plains game. Horse rides are for experienced riders only. Lewa Safari Camp offers visits to neighbouring local Samburu homesteads. Many of the staff at Lewa Safari Camp come from this area.

4. Elewana Sand River Masai Mara Camp

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is located on the banks of the Sand River, within the Masai Mara National Reserve. Comprising only 16 tents, including a family tent, the camp replicates the heyday of exclusive tented camps of the late 1920’s. The spacious en-suite tents feature a bedroom and lounge, and amenities include a bathtub, outdoor shower, solar heated hot water, twin vanity, writing desk, hairdryer, digital safe and a charging point with universal adapter. The camp is divided into two separate but adjoining campsites, with each area possessing its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy. Additional facilities include a billiard room, library and refreshing swimming pool with a large sun deck. Wi-Fi is available in the main reception areas. Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination for exceptional game viewing at any time of the year.

5. Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge

Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge is hidden among one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations and beautifully positioned below the rugged peak of Mount Meru. The theme of coffee is never far away at Arusha Coffee Lodge as evidenced by the beautifully designed plantation suites and rooms, all adorned with comfortable furnishings.  Each room features an ensuite bathroom including a triple-headed shower, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, electronic safe, mini-bar, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities. The homey feel of the lodge is by no means accidental as the origins of the homestead continue to emit glimpses of times-gone-by.  The main Plantation House is home to an à la carte restaurant, an intimate bar and a cozy lounge, all of which have inviting open log fires.  There are two boutiques, an enclosed swimming pool and a popular garden terrace.  The common areas also offer complimentary Wi-Fi. 

6. Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro

Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro is located within a 1500-acre coffee estate, surrounded by flowering gardens and age-old trees. Reminiscent of an elegant up-country Cape Dutch estate, the luxurious cottages are positioned to ensure that every guest experiences the natural beauty of the landscape, as well as the privacy and intimacy characteristic of an old world manor home. Each cottage has its own private entrance and adjoining sun terrace. A double open-fronted log-burning fireplace divides the room's interior. The en-suite bathroom has a Victorian-style bath, as well as twin vanity basins and a large rainfall shower. Cottage amenities include a hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room electronic safe, universal power adapters and charging points. The main Manor House features fireplace lounges, a formal dining room, dining conservatory, bar, private wine cellar, library with Internet, home theatre, snooker room, a massage room, swimming pool, and horse stables. Day 2. Nairobi / Amboseli National Park

Your safari takes off with a flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon checking into your well-appointed tented camp, meet your expert ranger for an afternoon game drive. Capture photos of some of Africa’s largest elephants with the snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Cap off your day with traditional sundowners as you marvel at views of Africa’s highest mountain in the twilight. (BLD)

Day 3. Amboseli National Park

Rise with the animals for your game drive — you may catch up with the big cats, full after their night’s hunt. Watch for wildebeests, zebras, impalas and warthogs, and see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot. (BLD)

Day 4. Amboseli / Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

Fly north to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy on Mt. Kenya’s slopes. Meet your ranger and start exploring the conservancy’s diverse ecosystems. You’ll be delighted by the varied wildlife — 70 different mammals including a thriving rhino population and some 350 species of birds. Be sure to watch for the endangered Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe. Tonight, raise your glass to the views of Mt. Kenya. (BLD)

Day 5. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

After a thrilling game drive, learn about the conservancy's globally recognized work. The camp is the only tourist facility in the conservancy that is owned by the conservancy, so money is reinvested into conservation and community efforts. Participate in a project, tour the conservancy offices, or meet the tracker dogs while they train. Then gather around a cozy log fire and share your day’s meaningful adventures. (BLD)

As part of your visit, a donation is made to support a child's participation in the Life and Land Foundation Wildlife Warrior program. Depending on the school schedule, you can meet some of the kids benefiting from the program

Day 6. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy / Masai Mara

The adventure continues as you take flight to the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s premier game reserve. Your traditional safari camp is located along the Sand River, where over a million wildebeests and zebras make their migration crossing every year. With your camera ready, meet your ranger and take off on a game drive across the reserve’s grasslands. You’ll be amazed by the herds of plains game and wide variety of wildlife. (BLD)

Day 7. Masai Mara

Awaken with the animals to join your morning game drive. Keep a lookout for the black-maned lion, leopards and cheetahs returning from their night hunt. Explore the bends of the traversing river where hippos and crocodiles spread out in their favorite feeding grounds. This afternoon, set out for a second game drive. (BLD)

Day 8. Masai Mara

Spend the day enjoying various game viewing activities. Greet the sunrise with an optional hot air balloon ride (additional cost), or visit a traditional Maasai homestead and learn more about their cattle-based culture. After dinner, gather around the campfire and share your favorite wildlife photos with your safari companions. (BLD)

Day 9. Masai Mara / Arusha, Tanzania

Cross the border with a flight to Arusha, where you’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge, a peaceful retreat tucked within a coffee plantation. Relax and explore as you please. (BLD)

Day 10. Arusha / Ngorongoro Crater

Explore magical Lake Manyara, with seasonal pink-hued flamingos and some 400 species of birds lining its shore. Your ranger will seek out the park’s fabled tree-climbing Manyara lions and enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue on to your beautiful lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater. (BLD)

Day 11. Ngorongoro Crater

Descend some 2,000 feet to explore Ngorongoro’s sprawling crater floor. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this unique biosphere is home to numerous herds of elephant, large prides of lions, leaping gazelles, and countless zebras and wildebeests. Watch the amusing antics at the hippo pool. (BLD)

Day 12. Ngorongoro / Depart

After a short flight to Arusha, you'll enjoy lunch and a place to relax at a reserved hotel day room until transferring to the airport for your onward arrangements. (B)
