Perched on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, the sumptuous &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is without doubt one of the most spectacular lodges in Africa. Inspired in design by the Maasai mud and stick manyatta, three separate and intimate camps are reminiscent of a bygone era. An eclectic blend of elegant teak paneling, Victorian furnishings and whimsical African touches creates an atmosphere that is as elegant and unique as the crater itself. Steeped in romance, the spacious suites boast floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Beaded chandeliers hang above large gilt mirrors, while antiques, billowing raw silk curtains and leather-backed chairs blend harmoniously with African art elements. Personal butlers discretely cater for each guest’s every need, bringing tea in bed, stoking fireplaces and drawing luxurious bubble baths. Domed dining rooms, with sparkling silver and crystal vie for attention with the huge windows and the awe-inspiring views. Frequently described as Maasai meets Versailles, brocade sofas and Persian rugs invite you to re-live the day’s experiences around a roaring fire.
