1. Legendary Lodge

Tanzania, Arusha

Set in lush tropical gardens on a working coffee farm just outside Arusha, Legendary Lodge is a perfect get-away, offering peace and relaxation. The lodge features beautiful garden cottages, each with an inspiring view of Mount Meru from its own private veranda. Designed with a unique blend of African arts and old, colonial-style furnishings, the cottages offer king sized beds, air-conditioning, a separate lounge with a cozy fireplace and ensuite bathrooms with deep tubs and showers. The two-bedroom Kahawa Cottage is ideal for families, while two cozy ensuite rooms are available in the Old Farmhouse for those who prefer to be closer to the dining room and guest lounge. Guests can take advantage of personal minibars and complimentary wireless internet throughout the property. Delectable gourmet meals are served in the gracious environment of The Old Farmhouse, while the Legendary Therapies Spa offers rejuvenating treatments (at an additional cost) in the elegant therapy room or in the privacy of the guest cottages.

3. Singita Faru Faru

Singita Faru Faru Lodge is situated in an untouched wilderness area of Grumeti Reserves in northern Tanzania. Faru Faru’s relaxed approach to luxury embodies a fresh take on African bush appeal. The stone, canvas and thatched suites (including a family suite and a 2-bedroom villa) have the air of a classic safari camp, yet the interiors offer the ultimate in contemporary chic with panoramic glass windows, mirrored room dividers and claw-foot baths. Views of a busy waterhole means the safari comes to you. 4. The Retreat

The Retreat is a luxury boutique hotel and is Kigali’s first eco-friendly solar powered resort featuring locally crafted teak wood furniture and beautifully designed custom-built rooms with high ceilings. Each room is furnished with a private balcony/patio, separate sitting area, complimentary wifi, flat screen TV with satellite channels, fridge and mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, work desk and air conditioning. Day 1. Arrive Arusha, Tanzania

A warm welcome awaits on your arrival in Tanzania. Transfer to your luxurious Lodge located at the foothills of Mount Meru and surrounded by a working coffee farm. (D)

Day 2. Arusha / Tarangire National Park

Depart on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, noted for its signature baobab trees and large elephant herds. Enjoy a game drive en route to a lodge that is dramatically set overlooking the Tarangire River and valley below. (BLD)

Day 3. Tarangire National Park

A full-day game drive with picnic lunch is scheduled for today. Look out for elephants and lions as well as zebra, giraffe and waterbuck. The park is also a haven for bird enthusiasts. (BLD)

Day 4. Tarangire National Park / Singita Grumeti

Fly to the Grumeti Reserve in the vast Serengeti. Your luxurious lodge is positioned on the renowned migratory route in close proximity to both river and plains. The superb location provides a wonderful opportunity to experience a close connection with the wilderness and its wildlife. (BLD)

Day 5. Singita Grumeti

Today's game drives are the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africa’s incredible animals and reveal the elusive magic of nocturnal Africa. Absorb the beauty of the landscape but also take in the scale and importance of the work of the anti-poaching unit. (BLD)

Situated atop a hill with an incredible view over the vast grassy plains below, meet the Singita Grumeti Fund game scouts and see how they live and work.  At the OP 7 there is an infographic board showing the main areas of focus, facts, and figures associated with the unit's success. The combination of a morning coffee or late afternoon drinks stop makes it a great location to truly absorb the beauty of the landscape but also take in the scale and importance of the work of the anti-poaching unit.

Day 6. Singita Grumeti

Enjoy another day of incredible game drives and, should you wish, walking safaris. You are likely to spot a variety of wildlife, including cheetah, wildebeests, giraffes, lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and the colobus monkey. Visit the nearby local community then return for a glass of wine and meet Africa’s next best sommeliers. (BLD)

Day 7. Singita Grumeti

Soak up your last morning in the Serengeti, before you fly to Kigali, Rwanda. Upon arrival relax at your comfortable city hotel. (BD)

Day 9. Kigali / Volcanoes National Park

This morning, take a poignant and moving tour of the Kigali Memorial Centre. Explore the city’s wonderful collection of art galleries and cooperative centers with a local artist. After lunch, depart on a scenic drive to the base of the Sabyinyo Mountains, where dramatic views of the peaks rear up through the forests. (BLD)

Guests are invited to meet the local community and participate in conservation efforts during their stay at Kwitonda Lodge. Don't miss a visit to the interactive educational space at the Conservation Room. The room features an inspiring conservation wall with valuable information, iMacs, a big-screen television, maps, books, and a private collection of “Bob” Campbell's memorabilia as he documented Dian Fossey's work for National Geographic.

Day 10. Volcanoes National Park

A physically demanding hike rewards you with the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery. Once the gorillas are located, all fatigue is forgotten. Observe the troop as they go about their day. Females bond by grooming, juveniles play and explore, all under the watchful eye and guidance of the dominant silverback. (BLD)

Day 11. Volcanoes National Park / Kigali

Enjoy one last breakfast and a stroll marveling at the lodge's commitment to reforestation. Stop in the Akarabo to see the latest plants, sip fresh herbal brews at the tea house, and sample organic goods and crafts from local artisans. (B)

Named Akarabo – which means ‘little flower’ in Kinyarwanda – the on-site nursery helps reforest, rehabilitate and maintain the habitat of Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas. Providing an authentic taste of Rwanda’s offerings, the garden includes a teahouse serving fresh herbal brews, as well as local artisans such as a basket weaver, seamstress and stick carver showcasing the intricacies of their craft.

Day 12. Kigali / Depart

The progressive and vibrant capital city Kigali buzzes with activity. Experience the famous Rwandan hospitality and join a local on a food tour and cooking lesson. Then bid farewell to your new east African friends as you depart later today. (BL)

Guided by a local chef, tour the local food markets and then learn to prepare flavorful Rwandan cuisine.
