With sunny and warm days, there's plenty of time to relax and enjoy the land and water experiences in this extraordinary country. The famous afternoon thundershowers bring a lovely coolness and drama to wildlife sightings. Begin in the Okavango Delta where you can spot up to 190-220 bird species in three days. Then explore the seasonal floodplains of the Moremi Game Reserve and end in the land of elephants in Chobe National Park. You may never want your journey to end, and Victoria Falls can be easily added to this itinerary.

1. Nxamaseri Lodge

At the heart of the Delta panhandle, Nxamaseri Island Lodge is Okavango Delta’s premier fly-fishing destination.  A small, exclusive lodge and one of the oldest in the delta, Nxamaseri Island Lodge is designed to show off the area's breathtaking scenery, providing an intimate way to experience the peaceful beauty of the Okavango delta.  The décor, handcrafted by local artisans and original Botswana artwork, displays its rustic natural charm enhanced by the warm hospitality of the lodge hosts. The double en-suite chalets, each secluded in indigenous forest, feature a private deck overlooking the water. Bathrooms are ensuite with flush toilets and hot and cold shower facilities. Teak walkways link the rooms to the main area, providing an opportunity to witness, at close range, the remarkable birdlife that inhabits the tree canopy above.

2. Camp Moremi

Peeking out from under a lush green woodland canopy, Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon of Moremi Game Reserve in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta. The custom style safari tents on raised teak platforms are luxuriously furnished.  Each tent features en-suite bathroom comprising of a shower, hand basin and toilet, private teak viewing decks, fans,  220V Plug points for charging equipment, hairdryer (available from the lodge reception), tea and coffee making facilities, safe, and an air horn for emergency situations.  Shaded by giant ebony trees, the thatch and timber lodge houses the elevated main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and the stylishly decorated cocktail bar.  There is also a gift shop, swimming pool and sundeck, and an elevated observation platform which affords unsurpassed views of the Xakanaxa Lagoon.

3. Camp Xakanaxa

Camp Xakanaxa’s prime location on the banks of the permanent flowing Khwai River in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve ensures an authentic, year-round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.  The stylish main buildings extend over the Khwai River and are set on raised platforms to maximize the views over the surrounding lagoons and islands.  There is an elegant lounge, dining rooms, small library, expansive sundeck, plunge pool, and sala with day bed. The canvas, Meru-style safari tents are equipped with en-suite shower, hand basins and toilet facilities.  There is a private viewing deck with loungers.

4. Chobe Game Lodge

Botswana, Chobe National Park

Chobe Game Lodge is situated on the Chobe River, within the famous Chobe National Park. Find your favorite spot along the elevated platform and settle down to watch the ever-changing wildlife across the river and flood plains, as far away as Namibia. The en-suite bedrooms are river facing with large terraces, sun loungers and complimentary mini-bars, international multi-plug adapters, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, safety deposit box, laundry service, veranda with deck chairs, solar heated water, ceiling fans and air conditioning.  Lodge facilities include a swimming pool, comfortably furnished viewing decks, a riverside boma, two bars, six different lounges, four dining locations, a spa and gym. Wi-Fi is complimentary in all guest rooms, public areas and the boardwalk.  The lodge is wheelchair accessible.


Day 1. Arrive Maun / Okavango Delta, Botswana

Arrive in Maun, Botswana, then fly to your safari camp in the heart of the Okavango Delta. In the cool of the day, join your ranger and explore the intricacies of the delta’s lush channels and floodplains. Tonight, fall asleep to the tinkling of the bell frogs. (LD)

Day 2. Okavango Delta

Activities on this day include early morning and late afternoon game drives, walks, and mokoro excursions. This area is well known for its large volume of Tigerfish, one of the world’s most dramatic freshwater game fish. Various other species can also be caught, ensuring an eventful and memorable fishing experience. Discover the stillness and beauty of these waters, poled along the crystal-clear surface on a mokoro, the traditional way of traveling through the shallow Okavango Delta flood plains. Get up close and personal with the small treasures of the Okavango, like dragonflies, reed frogs, and water lilies, and within touching distance of the myriad of colorful fish that swim just below the surface. Day 3. Okavango Delta

Enjoy another peaceful day exploring this private island. During January and February, 325 of the 500 birds in the Okavango Delta can be seen and over the three days its not uncommon to see 190-200 bird species. You also have the opportunity to arrange a guided trip to the Tsodilo Hills. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these hills are sacred to the San people of Northern Botswana and are adorned with over 2000 ancient San paintings. (BLD)

Day 4. Okavango Delta / Moremi Game Reserve

Get ready for some magnificent aerial viewing as you fly to the pristine Moremi Game Reserve, one of Africa's finest wildlife reserves. Your safari tents are set on a raised teak deck on the edge of the Xakanaxa Lagoon in an area well known for its spectacular game-viewing opportunities. (BLD)

Day 5. Moremi Game Reserve

Experienced rangers will introduce you to a world of wildlife on morning and afternoon game drives. Keep your eyes peeled for the leopard stretched out lazily in a tree or the pride of lions camouflaged in the long grass. Return to camp for dinner and recount the day’s adventure around the glowing fire. (BLD)

Day 6. Moremi Game Reserve

Wake with the animals as Moremi beckons with the promise of another exciting day. Roam the surrounding channels by motorboat. Glide through the waterways in search of the majestic fish eagle and vivid malachite kingfisher. (BLD)

Day 7. Moremi Game Reserve / Chobe National Park

Fly to your lodge on the edge of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. Settle into your safari accommodations and enjoy an afternoon activity in the park. (BLD)

Hop aboard your comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle with your professional ranger to seek out the animals. Listen for the low growls of the lioness and her cubs. Take in the vistas of vast herds of Cape buffalo. (BLD)

Day 9. Chobe National Park

Take to the Chobe River for a boat cruise and gain another perspective on the area’s impressive wildlife. Chobe has the largest concentration of elephants in Botswana. Float quietly past numerous pods of hippo feeding along the banks and spy some truly massive crocodiles soaking up the sun. (BLD)

Day 10. Chobe National Park / Depart
